Garmin nuvi 885T
The Garmin nuvi 885T is a successor of the good old nuvi 880, which had pretty many useful features and made lots of drivers happy. Most of these features are preserved in the new 885T so expect even more satisfaction, like for example - the MSN direct service which serves as a personal travel assistant and the innovative voice commands.

While sometimes you get the feeling that GPS developers feel like they need to add in as many features as possible, Garmin keeps things relatively simple with its high-end nüvi 885T. This great tool delivers voice commands and lifetime traffic, and just like the other Garmin navigators, it’s well made and user friendly. However, for a high-end unit, some may have expected more.

The design and interface are very nice. The Garmin nuvi 885T has a 4.3-inch, 480 x 272-pixel touchscreen and a rounded silver case. It comes with an attractively small ball-and-socket window mount, as well as a remote that straps onto your steering wheel to call up the voice command system. Turn it on and you'll get the two-icon interface Where To? and View Map. Smaller icons let you access volume controls, settings, and, if you’ve connected with a Bluetooth-capable phone, you'll be able to make hands-free calls.

The Garmin 885 has a new extra you won't find on older models - the "Lane assist with junction view" feature. This new feature, exclusive only to the nuvi 885T and nuvi 855, gives clear directions and visual cues to guide users to the correct lane. This way you're guaranteed not to miss turns and intersection confusions are eliminated. The MSN direct service has also been enhanced enabling users to get more information including flight status updates, local gas prices, advanced whether information, movie listings, local news and events, and other conveniences as long as the signal coverage is okay.

The Garmin nuvi 885T incorporates the Bluetooth wireless technology, making hands-free calls a reality. It has built-in microphone and speaker and the quality is decent. All that is required is a cellular phone will Bluetooth functionality to take advantage of its functions.

The widely used “Where am I?” feature has also been enhanced to provide specific locations of the user’s vehicle. This is a valuable solution if you're on foot either. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery combined with the same sleek design that resembles the rest of the nuvi 850 series make it handy to carry around. The battery is replaceable so that if you travel a lot you can carry a spare with you. Now you can remember exactly where you parked as well as the fastest route back to the car.

Garmin nuvi 885T provides some useful extras to increase functionality beyond regular GPS and navigation devices. One of the recent additions include the new photo navigation feature where pictures from the Google Panoramio service can be downloaded via the Garmin Connect service which can be really handy for frequent travelers.

The Garmin nuvi 885T is a wonderful upgrade to the nuvi 855. Since the device is the most recent release, additional POIs and updated map content are included out of the box so it’s ready to go on first use. Upgraders will be happy to see the widescreen interface intact and new users should be able to get the hang of the simple interface rather quickly. The voice commands do not require any form of set up or training so people can go hands free right away. The Garmin nuvi continues to be on top of the competition and serves as a trusted companion to keep people under control whether they are driving or going around on foot.
