Garmin nuvi 265T
At only 5.2 ounces and less than an inch thick, it's pretty amazing to think how did Garmin packed so many features in this tinny device. Even the antenna is built into this compact unit. Garmin's nuvi 265T portable GPS does so much more than just "get you there". This GPS unit delivers lifetime traffic service, hands-free calling with Bluetooth, a hefty points-of-interest database, and more. Unfortunately, the Garmin Nuvi 265T's 3.5in screen is a bit small for taking advantage of all it has to offer. You can synchronize your Bluetooth compatible phone with the nuvi unit which will enable you to place or receive calls directly from the unit while driving as well as interface with other features of your phone, depending on the model. In addition to convenience, this is a nice safety feature.
The slim unit is completely portable and now comes with life time traffic updates. The nuvi 265T has text to speech capability so it will actually speak the names of the streets when navigating your selected route. This is a nice feature if you need to concentrate on the road and cannot glance at the unit to figure out your next turn. It will remind you again of the turn you make your final approach to your next maneuver.
The 265T has enough internal memory to store 1,000 waypoints, or favorite addresses, though it can accept additional memory in the format of a microSD card. This can be useful if you want to upload any add-on features or programs available at Garmin's website or add your own photo album. In addition, with a little bit of work and computer understanding you can upload addresses directly from Google maps or Mapquest. All you need is the free plug-in that you can download from Garmin's web site.
When you turn on the Garmin Nuvi 265T, you're faced with two options: "Where to?" and "View Map". This makes it easy to get up and running - even if you've never used a GPS product before. All of the screens are attractive, and we found accessing most of the options on this device simple. One advantage of the Garmin Nuvi 265T is its accurate estimates of travel time. The inclusion of lifetime traffic service is a definite bonus on this unit, as traffic incidents are factored into your routes.
The free traffic service does come at something of a price, though: you may see occasional advertisements on the Garmin Nuvi 265T. Garmin says the ads appear only after you've typed in a destination and begun navigation; the device won't suggest a new route based on where businesses that advertise are located. The Garmin Nuvi 265T's points-of-interest database is extensive and easy to navigate.
Among the high-end features bundled in the Garmin Nuvi 265T are: hands-free calling (when paired with a Bluetooth mobile phone), a photo viewer, a currency converter, and the ability to download and navigate to Google Panoramio pictures. It's also compatible with MSN Direct, which delivers local information, such as weather, petrol prices, and movie times to the unit.
The Garmin Nuvi 265T itself is small and slim, and will easily fit in your pocket if you want to take it with you. Key features at a glance:
- Dimensions: 3.8?W x 2.8?H x 0.8?D

- Travel tools including a world clock, calculator, currency converter, and photo viewer

The Garmin Nuvi 265T is a reasonable price for a full-featured GPS, especially when you factor in the lifetime traffic service. The Garmin 265T is all about simplicity. It is designed to get you there using the latest in navigation technology, without the complication of too many features. With its built in, no-cost traffic detection and intuitive interface, the newest Garmin becomes an invaluable companion to any road traveler.
