Garmin's Colorado 400I is a rugged, waterproof outdoor handheld GPS that can be used for hiking, boating, camping, in the car, or Geocaching.
Available in 4 different versions, the Colorado 400-series have a useful and innovative scroll wheel - just like a joystick controller. It is the first handheld GPS to support "Where I Go", the newest twist on Geocaching. It is preloaded with World Base Maps in shaded relief, has a digital compass and altimeter, and can be paired with a heart rate monitor and/or speed and cadence sensor for fitness use.

Map detail includes shoreline details, depth contours, boat ramps and mile markers for thousands of lakes in the continental U.S. With Colorado 400i you can share your waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches wirelessly with other Colorado users. Now you can send your favorite hike to your buddy to enjoy or the location of a cache to find. Sharing data is easy. Just select "send" to transfer your information to other Colorado units.
Intuitive and fun, Colorado features a Rock 'n Roller input wheel for easy one-handed operation and supports Geocaching GPX files for downloading geocaches and detail straight to your unit. Colorado 400i has a built-in electronic compass that provides bearing information even while you're standing still, and its barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. You can even use the altimeter to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help you keep an eye on changing weather conditions. Conveniently plug in optional preloaded SD cards for all your outdoor activities on land or water. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps, and Colorado provides turn-by-turn directions to your destination. Add select topographic maps to take advantage of Colorado's 3-D map view which gives you a better perspective of your elevation.
All 4 Colorado models are identical in terms of hardware. All four Colorado models can be upgraded to use additional maps. The Colorado has 3GB of internal memory, but there's only about 120MB of unused space, so you'll need to buy an SD memory card if you plan to use additional maps. Garmin's additional maps are available on DVD and can be transferred to the Colorado via a PC, and Garmin also sells maps on SD cards ready for use in their GPS units.
