Garmin eTrex Vista H
The tough economy lead Garmin to release two new entry-level handheld GPS units - the eTrex Legend H and eTrex Vista H. These are monochome units, with internal memory only (no micro-SD slot). The Vista H includes a barometric altimeter and electronic compass.

Garmin - the renowned global leader in satellite navigation, announced the eTrex Legend H and the eTrex Vista H. These are low-cost handheld navigators that include several new features considered vital for today’s outdoor adventures.

First and foremost, the units include a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, that makes satellite acquisition faster and helps ensure a solid lock, even in dense tree canopies or vertical canyons that hikers, hunters, and geocachers often experience. The eTrex Legend H and eTrex Vista H also feature a fast USB interface and 24 megabytes of internal memory for loading detailed topo maps from a computer. The eTrex Vista H includes an electronic compass and barometric altimeter as well.

The eTrex Legend and Vista models have long been considered standard equipment for anyone who wants to make the most of their outdoor excursions. Now, entry-level customers can get some of the latest features for the same price as the previous versions, making the units attractive for those wanting a rugged and reliable GPS for under two hundred dollars.

Both units contain a basemap of North and South America, containing major lakes, rivers, cities, interstates, national and state highways, railroads and coastlines, which can be viewed on the units’ high-contrast 2.4-inch (diagonal) grayscale screen.

The compact Garmin eTrex Vista H GPS includes an electronic compass and barometric altimeter, and sports a high-sensitivity receiver, USB interface and easy-to-use rocker switch. Also includes 24 MB of built-in memory, crisp resolution and built-in basemap. High-sensitivity chipset delivers fast signal acquisition and lock for reception in narrow valleys, dense woodlands and urban jungles. Innovative rocker switch accommodates quick and accurate panning, selection and Enter functions.

Built-in memory allows you to download points of interest and detailed maps using Garmin MapSource™ software (sold separately); USB interface allows high-speed downloads. Electronic compass provides accurate bearing when standing still. Precise barometric altimeter with pressure recording tracks elevation gain and loss. High resolution display features 4-level gray scale and high contrast for easy viewing. Includes a built-in general basemap and nautical navigational aids for North and South America. Track your route and find your way back with Garmin's exclusive TracBack™ feature. Store up to 1,000 waypoints with graphic icons. eTrex maintains tight satellite-lock, even through dense forest, by continuously tracking up to 12 satellites. Trip computer calculates current and average speed, sunset and sunrise, trip time and distance. Weatherproof body keeps eTrex functioning in wet conditions; waterproof to IEC 529 lPX7 standards. WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) enabled receiver delivers sub-3m accuracy. Comes with USB interface cable, lanyard, owner's manual and quick reference guide.
