The DirecTV equipment includes everything you need for an exciting and
pleasant satellite TV experience. Although the quality of your image will
also depend on your TV set, DirecTV's equipment includes the most
advanced and innovative components for watching satellite TV.
DirecTV satellite TV equipment offers premium digital quality sound and
video to almost anywhere with a southern view of the sky. DirecTV
satellite television systems consist of either a standard 18", an oval
3-phase dish or the newest 5-phase satellite dish with an LNBF (low
noise block filter) that receives the signal from one or more satellites,
and a multi-switch that provides connections for up to four indoor units
(receivers). If you have more than one television in your home or
business, you will need an additional receiver for each television. If you
wish to have more than four receivers connected, an additional or
enhanced multi-switch will be required.
The DirecTV equipment offers the TIVO upgrade together with service
options that allow you to record your programs at the touch of a button,
and even pause live television. DirecTV's newest 5-way dish receives
programming from 5 different satellites for even more HDTV
programming and local channel reception in select market areas. Most
receivers will hold 120-300 hours of recordings. HDTV - (High Definition
Television) features are becoming the standard, offering superior
picture quality to any High Definition Television.
DirecTV equipment also includes a variety of optional High Definition
Receivers. The company offers their own line of receivers which replace
the old Hughes, Sony, Uniden and other models. To first time customers
DirecTV provides free equipment to use and a free standard installation
for up to 4 rooms. Additional receivers, dual tuners, etc. usually require
an additional fee every month for programming.
A variety of equipment and service options are available to fit your
needs and budget. From the standard receivers to the HD Receivers
that offer unmatched video quality to the Dual Tuners that offer picture-
in-picture or additional room services, and on to the DVR (Digital Video
Recording) TiVo Units! Or maybe you want it all in which case the
DirecTV HR10-250 offers everything you need for the ultimate in satellite
television features and options.
In general, DirecTV equipment includes the following components:
DirecTV Satellite Dishes, DirecTV Satellite Receiver, DirecTV Multi-
Switches; DirecTV Satellite Dish Covers, DirecTV Satellite Dish Heaters,
DirecTV Remote Controls and Remote Control Signal Senders. But if you
want to go into more details, here's a brief list:
- Up to 100' of RG6 Single Coaxial Cable for each receiver / tuner in the
home to the dish or dish switch
- 1 Wall mount on an exterior wall (wood or acceptable siding) between
5' and 8' above the ground
- Up to 30' of ground wire from the dish to the switch (if applicable) and
to an acceptable building ground
- Penetration of 1 exterior wall for each receiver/tuner in the home
- Wire ties and sealants necessary to protect and seal cable runs and
point(s) of entry
- Connecting of each receiver / tuner to one television within 3' of the
receiver / tuner
- Connecting of each receiver / tuner to an existing telephone jack within
10' of each tuner / receiver.
- Programming of each remote control to each receiver / tuner &
television if possible.
