available in over 88% of U.S. homes. Chances are, DIRECTV already
offers HD locals in your area. Or they're coming very soon.
DIRECTV® HD EXTRA PACK gives you a special group of 6 channels not
available to those with standard-definition systems. Channels including
Crime & Investigation Network HD, HDNet Movies, MGM HD, Palladia,
Smithsonian Channel HD and Universal HD exclusive to DIRECTV HD
EXTRA PACK.
With the most HD channels and astounding picture quality, DIRECTV
delivers the ultimate HD experience. And it's easy as 1-2-3 to start
enjoying it today.
1. Make sure your TV or the one you're about to purchase is "HD-ready."
This means that it's capable of displaying at least 720 progressive lines
of resolution.
2. Choose either the DIRECTV® HD or the DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR
receiver. The DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver combines both HD and
digital video recording capabilities into one easy-to-use unit.
3. Choose the CHOICE XTRA™ + HD Access or PLUS HD DVR™ package.
Or pick any other package and select an HD receiver when you place
your order. An HD Access fee ($9.99/month) will be added automatically
to your account.
1080p - the ultimate HDTV experience. What you need is:
1. A high-definition TV capable of displaying the 1080p resolution format
If you already have a DIRECTV system in place, you can check to see if
your TV is 1080p-capable by clicking on Menu on your remote. Select
Parental Fav's and Setup and hit System Setup. Choose HDTV and use
the arrows to highlight the TV Resolutions tab. You'll see the HD formats
your TV supports.
2. A DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver
Check the model number of your receiver by opening the little door
located on the bottom right corner of the front panel. You must have
either the HR20 or HR21 model.
3. An HDMI cable to connect the receiver and TV
Your TV must be connected to your receiver with an HDMI cable.
Professional installation of the DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver normally
includes this HDMI connection.
